FG Condoles with Bomb blast Victims: Promises to foot medical bills The Federal Government has said it will pay all the medical bills of the Christmas Day Bomb blast victims in Madalla, Suleja Local Government in Niger State. The Minister of Health, Prof. C.O Onyebuchi Chukwu made this known yesterday when he visited the victims at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital Gwagwalada, National Hospital and State House Clinic all in Abuja.
Lead Poisoning: Health Minister of State Seeks Partnership with Other Agencies Minister of State for Health, Dr Muhammad Ali Pate has sought a strong collaboration among government agencies and Development Partners in tackling the menace of Lead Poisoning which affected many people in Anka and Bukkuyum Local government areas of Zamfara State.   Dr Pate, while on a fact finding mission to some of the villages worst hit by the impact of local mining activities in Zamfara state at the weekend said the Federal Government was disturbed with the re-emergence of lead poison in the two local government areas hence the need for the collaboration.

MEASURE Evaluation is committed to the goal of improving healthcare and health systems in Nigeria. To this end, the Federal Ministry of Health, DPRS, has been working in close collaboration with MEASURE Evaluation, Nigeria, to launch an e-database of health sector surveys and censuses in Nigeria.

12 States Affected with Lassa Fever -Minister of State Health

 Minister of State for Health, Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate has said that 12 states have been reported with the cases of Lassa fever in past 12 weeks. The States are Edo, Nasarawa, Plateau, Ebonyi, Taraba, Yobe ,Ondo, Rivers, Gombe, Anambra, Delta and Lagos.

Weekly Updates on Epidemics in Nigeria: as at 10th February, 2012

Federal Ministry of Health Weekly Epidemiology Report indicates that between weeks 1-5 2012, a total of 40 suspected cases of Cholera with 1death (CFR 2.5%) have been recorded, while for Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM), a total of 59 suspected cases were reported with 1death (CFR 2.0%).
